The first period was relatively quiet, with the Hawks scoring the only goal with just over a minute remaining in the period.
At the halfway mark of the second the Hawks got their second goal of the game but the Riggers got a hold of the puck and tickled the twine shortly after. Rigger Dave Alackson nabbed the goal, assisted by Tyler Roberge and Parker Thomas.
The third period saw action with five minutes remaining, as the Hawks put another one away, leading 3-1. With 1:33 remaining Rigger Josh Dugas found the back of the net with some help from Keith Brady and Thomas.
The Riggers could not get another goal on net and lost the game -2.
On Friday, Feb. 5 they faced the Edmonton Royals in the Sobey’s arena at the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC), coming away with a 5-1 loss.
The Royals scored the lone goal of the first period on a power play with seven minutes remaining in the period.
The Royals put another one away with six minutes remaining in the second before the Riggers got their wood on the rubber. The Royals put their fifth goal in the net at the 11 minute mark of the third, defeating the Riggers at their last home game of the regular season.
